Wecounsel is a cloud-based, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing solution designed for telemedicine practices of all sizes. It offers live chat, patient scheduling and check-in, a clinician dashboard and video calling. Android and iOS apps are available for tablets and smartphones.

Wecounsel features practice management, which allows users to manage appointment scheduling and medical billing. Users can also take notes using customizable note templates. Patient interaction tools let users schedule calls with patients through multiple channels such as video, live chat and email. Providers and practitioners can also share documents such as lab results and forms.

Website and social-media integrations help users promote their practices and manage Google rankings. The product also provides an open API, which allows users to integrate Wecounsel with other platforms and transfer data such as SSO authentication, video sessions and appointment scheduling.

Pricing is per user per month. Support is offered through an online help desk.

WeCounsel is a very easy-to-use platform for HIPAA compliant video conferencing, scheduling, messaging, and documentation. I love that everything is in one place.

Despite having detailed instructions on how to use the video feature, clients still have struggled to get their video up and running on the first session.

Some of their tech support agents are incredibly helpful and professional, while I noticed some others struggle to maintain a professional demeanor, telling me about trouble they are having with other users, and expressing outward confusion and frustration in problem solving issues, rather than confidence and putting me at ease.

I also wish there was a toll free number you could call in the moment if you are experiencing technical issues. Especially when you have sessions scheduled and you waste 15-30 minutes trying to help your client set up their camera, it can be really annoying to "request a call" and have to wait 24 hours to hear back.

It would be great to be able to sync the calendar with other calendars but it's still easy to use the calendar feature directly on the site.

Overall, I highly recommend using this platform. It's very easy to navigate, upload counseling notes, and even create templates right on the site. They are very responsive to questions and helpful when you need something.

It wasn't the worst software I've tried, but definitely not the best. My biggest problem was the forms not working--once this was an issue for over a month, and cost me business and likely impacted trust with a referral source. Support was always nice and provided refunds when there were issues on their end for extended periods of time, but I just needed a reliable product. They weren't always good about updating on fixes but responded quickly when I would check in. Appointment reminders would often direct providers and clients to other sites, which was an ongoing issues still happening when I left. WeCounsel does offer some referral opportunities, which is a feature not a lot of competitors offer. However, the reimbursement rate for these is very low and I wasn't able to opt in for that reason. The video quality was typically decent, but not as crisp as other systems. I requested phone calls to discuss some ongoing issues but never got one...I did receive a call from them after I had left the platform, though. I kept my account for a little over a year due to the hassle of switching clients and records over, but after being invited to test competitors, I had to switch. There are too many other platforms that offer more for nearly half the price.

Customer support was friendly, but were not always great about providing updates. They were always willing to offer refunds when there were extended issues, though.

Video was often glitchy and the forms would not work periodically, which impacted my ability to accept and see clients. Appointment reminders had links to wrong sites. Support never responded to clients who had opened tickets.

WeCounsel has allowed me to provide evaluation and psychotherapy online via a HIPAA compliant platform. The format is clear and direct allowing ease of use. The site is easy to navigate and explain to patients. The cost is very reasonable. They continue to add new features and functions to improve the experience. The customer support and technical support are exceptional. Their technical support people converse in simple, direct language in helping guide providers and patients through set up or technical challenges.

Patients sometimes have trouble locating how to schedule an appointment. They tend to click on Calendar which seems intuitive but this does not bring up my schedule.

I dislike the slide bar on the charge page to set the fee. I often adjust fees for various reasons and would like to just enter a dollar amount rather than fiddle with the slide bar to adjust minutes to get the correct fee.

The calendar in the dashboard is the calendar for the user who is logged in. Some of our clients are actually connected to more than one provider, which is why they have to navigate to your availability to view it. Thank you for providing that commentary, however, we will look into ways we can make this more clear for clients.

We will actually soon be removing the slider and an empty field will appear instead where you can enter any amount you want. I will make sure to let you know when this change is made.

WeCounsel has a foundation that is excellent. The weaknesses are in the price and technical ease. In theory, it is more fair to charge per usage rather than a monthly fee, or at least have that as an option. The clients very often have difficulty navigating the technology, which can be discouraging. It would be nice to be able to play videos from the Internet to clients during sessions on WeCounsel or have access to a whiteboard or something.

Our very affordable plans offer you unlimited video conferencing so you can have as many or as few calls as you need. I use WeCounsel for the video function only and wish the pricing packages were set up so that I am only paying for what I am using. Because I don't use the scheduling feature, it's confusing for clients because they think they need to request a session with me even though we are already scheduled through a different practice management system.

More than half of my clients struggled with getting started, either with downloading the plug in, getting their camera and microphone to work, or entering the session. There's too many steps involved for starting sessions: four clicks. It should be 2. And when we have to quit a session and re-enter due to technical problems, it's even more confusing because WeCounsel thinks you're double-booking. Oh wait I have to go back to the front page and select "check in"... yeah confusing.

Video quality seems to depend more on internet speeds and your computer processor and not so much on WeCounsel. Other cheaper options seem to be just as good.

One reason I chose WeCounsel was because of the Whiteboard feature, which hasn't been developed yet.

I'm considering researching other options.

If your practice is solely online-based and you need a the practice management system, it's integrated in WeCounsel.

Video quality isn't better ham other options. Not easy to navigate around. Too many steps/lclicks to get into a session. No option to turn off scheduling or note taking features so you and client don't get prompts. No whiteboard feature despite being advertised.

The Starter Plan sounds like best plan for you, but you don't have to use all the features included if you don't need them. You can even turn off your availability if you don't need clients to make requests.Our staff is happy to do a test call with each of your clients to make sure they are set up for success. It's true, internet connectivity does play a role in the quality of the call as with any internet based solution. We will help you test speeds and make sure that you have the optimal connection.Our checkin process is designed for security, but we are always looking for ways to improve.
